Temporary Part-Time Water Plant Operator

Department of Public Works

Location: De Tour Village, Michigan

Position: Temporary Part-Time Water Plant Operator

Number of Openings: One (1)

Compensation: $15.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Summary

The Village of De Tour is seeking a reliable, motivated individual to fill a temporary part-time Water Plant Operator position during the military leave of a current employee. This temporary assignment provides an excellent opportunity for someone interested in municipal water system operations while supporting an employee serving our country.

The selected candidate will assist the Water Department Superintendent with the daily operation and maintenance of the Village’s water treatment and distribution system. This position requires weekend, holiday, and occasional after-hours work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the Village and its insurance carrier.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Possess an F-4 Water Filtration Certification, or be willing and able to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment. The Village of De Tour will pay approved costs associated with obtaining the certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in water treatment, public works, utilities, or mechanical maintenance is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal instructions, and respond appropriately to operational issues.
