For questions on how to play or scheduling:
Pickleball is much like tennis, with a few modifications. Such as a smaller court and the use of solid wood or composite paddles to hit a plastic ball over the net.
DeTour provides nets and balls, and paddles are available for those who do not have one. So … grab your tennis shoes, put on some workout clothes and come join us. If you don’t know how to play … don’t worry. Someone there will help you learn.
FREE. Donations are accepted to purchase balls and nets, and to build funds for outdoor courts.
Pickle-ball® is played on a badminton-sized court: 20’ x 44.’ The ball is served diagonally (starting with the right-hand service-square), and points can only be scored by the side that serves.
Players on each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys are allowed, and there is a seven-foot no-volley zone on each side of the net, to prevent “spiking.” The server continues to serve, alternating service courts, until he or she faults. The first side scoring eleven points and leading by at least two points wins. Pickle-ball® can be played with singles or doubles.
There are many great sources to read rules of play. Here are a few:
