The DeTour Village Council is responsible for governing the village in accordance with Michigan’s General Law Village Act. Its duties include adopting ordinances, approving the annual budget, managing Village finances, levying taxes, and ensuring compliance with transparency laws such as the Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act. The Council also appoints essential Village officials, oversees public services and infrastructure, approves contracts, and guides land use and planning decisions to support the village’s growth and overall well-being.
Each member of the Council is elected to a four year term. The elections are held on the even years in November.
Meetings are held at 6:00 PM on the 1st Monday of every month at the DeTour Village Hall. Meeting times are subject to change periodically, please call to confirm times 906-297-5471.
